Citrus Soy Glazed Sirloin Stir-Fry for #WeekdaySupper


It's not often, but this week, "Where's the beef," beat out "Eat mor chikin," in my house.

Maybe because it's grilling season?

Or maybe it's because my man couldn't bear the thought of us actually reaching number 276, in Diana's "500 unusual and interesting ways you never knew that chicken could taste so good" crusade.

Hey, it could happen!



And while I'm all over a nice juicy burger a few times a year.  And don't even get me going on a BBQ'd tri tip... I still think that


beats out


in my book, any day.

But, as everyone knows, the way to my man's heart is through his stomach.... so what better way to swoon my sweetie, than with a stir-fry?

Healthy, delicious and so versatile.  I like to start with a leek and onion base for extra flavor, and build from there.  Then add your favorite veggies.  Some of my favorites are green beans, asparagus, snow peas, and even bean sprouts.  Add whatever protein you have on hand... seafood, especially shrimp, would also be nice!  And stir fry it up with my flavorful sauce of soy, balsamic, lime juice, my favorite salad dressing... and don't forget the cilantro!  A simple one-pot dish, perfect for a quick week night meal.


Citrus Soy Glazed Sirloin Stir Fry

3 small leeks, cut into half moons
1/2 sweet yellow onion, cut into thin half moons
1-1/2 cups green beans, cut into 1" pieces
2 garlic cloves, minced

Sirloin steak cut into strips (I used 2 small steaks, trimmed of fat)
Olive oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons Briannas Blush Wine Vinaigrette (or substitute 2 teaspoons strawberry jam!)
Salt and pepper to taste
Seasonings as desired (I like to sprinkle on some of my favorite Parisien)
2 tablespoons cilantro, rough chopped
Squeeze of lime juice over all
Cooked white or brown rice (optional)

In a large saut√© pan, add the onion and leeks with oil, salt, pepper and dried herbs. Saut√© over med. high heat until softened.  Then add in the green beans and steak.  Stir fry until steak just starts to brown.  Add in the garlic and stir fry another minute.  Turn down the heat a bit and add in the soy sauce, balsamic and dressing.  Add more seasonings and salt as needed.  Continue to stir fry for a few minutes or until steak is medium rare and green beans are crisp-tender.

Add in fresh cilantro and squeeze lime juice over all.  Serve over rice if desired.

  1. This is my average meal any day of the week. A perfect recipe Di! I lived in the US when the where´s the beef ad came out, and to this day I never forgot it!
